Projects
Listed below are maintenance projects that the SFNF TERMITES Volunteer Trail Maintenance Team plans to undertake in 2024.
Some projects are ongoing, others can be accomplished in one or two days, and others may last through much of the 2024 maintenance period. A brief description of the planned maintenance activity is provided. Physical requirements will range from light to heavy depending on the type of work to be performed. The work activity will also dictate the type and number of tools required to complete the project. The number and types of tools that must be carried to the project site, the distance that the project is from the trail head, and the required gain and loss in elevation are also physical stamina requirements that should be considered. Some projects will be within a mile or so of the trail head, and there may be limited gain and loss in elevation. Other projects may be located several miles from the trail head, and there may be a gain or loss in elevation of over a thousand feet.
The order in which projects are accomplished may vary. A project may be deleted, or new projects may be added to address changing priorities.
E-mail notification is sent to TERMITES volunteers once a start date for a project has been approved by the responsible federal or state agency. Thereafter, an email is sent soliciting volunteers for the upcoming proposed project. Included in the email are proposed dates, the activity, start and end times, and other appropriate information. When feasible, volunteers are encouraged to car pool.
Click on each project for more details. The pictures included with each project description are examples of the tasks that will be performed during the performance of each project.
