Project 6:
Project status: US Forest Service approved
Date Planned: Summer - Fall 2024
Location: Borrego Trail between Aspen Ranch and its junction with the Rio Nambe Trail
This project is a continuation of a project started in FY 2021.
Project summary: Work on this project will proceed as time and resources permit, or it may be substituted for another project.
Maintenance activity: Work activities will include sawing and the removal of downed trees blocking the trail using crosscut and other saws, sawing and or removal of logs and tree debris encroaching on the trail, and brushing. Tools will include a crosscut saw, pick Mattock, small and medium pruning saws, loppers, axe, cant hook, and a rake.
Activity level: Physical requirements will range from moderate to laborious depending on the activity being performed, and the distance the work site is from the trailhead.
Distance: This will vary from approximately 50 feet to 2.0 miles depending on the work site location. Note, the trailhead is located approximately 45 minutes from Santa Fe.
Elevation: All work is performed downhill from the trailhead, thus after the workday, one must hike uphill to the trailhead. Elevation at the work site will vary, with a maximum gain or loss in elevation of approximately 700 feet over approximately 2.0 miles to the most remote work site (junction of Borrego Trail with Rio Nambe Trail).
