Project: Winsor Trail
Date: Wednesday, August 7th:
Meeting time: 0830
Meeting Location: Winsor Trail Head at the Ski Basin
Team Lead: Walter
Task: The project will consist of two sub-tasks. The first sub task is to install a series of steps at one or two locations along the second long switch back. Second task, if time permits we will perform tread maintenance in the vicinity of where the steps are installed.
Project: Winsor Trail
Date: Friday, August 9th
Meeting time: 0830
Meeting location: Winsor Trail head at the Ski Basin
Team Lead: Walter
Task: We will check the status of back fill where we installed new steps last week. We will then proceed up the Winsor Trail to the trail section between the two springs at the upper end of the first long switch back. We will remove rocks and roots, and grade for drainage this section of trail. This should be fairly easy as maintenance on the difficult sections of this trail section have been completed.

Project: Winsor Trail
Date: Friday, August 2nd:
Meeting time: 0830
Meeting Location: Winsor Trail Head at the Ski Basin
Team Lead: Walter
Task: This project consists of two sub-tasks. First we assist the Forest Service to remove a clump of four trees encroaching on the trail (the tops were previously sawed and removed by a TERMITES maintenance team, and to saw and remove a large leaner tree that poses a hazard to hikers. This sub-task is located between the two springs on the first long switchback
The second sub-task is to install a series of steps just past the beginning of the first long switch back. The location is adjacent to the large rock on the right as you hike uphill. Existing logs and an old electrical pole will be used to construct the steps. Approximately 5-7 steps will be installed with the area behind each step back-filled with dirt.

Project: Maintenance of the Winsor Trail above the ski basin
Date: Wednesday, July 10th
Team Lead: Walter
Task: This is a continuation of work started in June on the Winsor Trail. Our continued goal is to remove rocks and roots from the trail, and grade the trail for drainage. The section to be worked is between the start of the long switchback and the Wilderness Boundary. To date we have completed work on approximately 25% of this section. This section has been easier to work as there are fewer rocks and roots needing removal, and this trail section is in better condition than the lower section.
Project: Skyline to Penitente Trail: sawing and removing the numerous downed trees blocking the trail
Date: Friday, July 12th
Team Lead: Andy
Task: Andy and Chris have scouted the Skyline Trail and identified numerous downed trees of various sizes blocking the trail. While many of the downed trees can be cut using the large silky saw, a number will require use of the 2-person cross cut saw. Given the number and size of trees that need to be sawed and moved off the ski track, and the number and type of tools that will be needed, a minimum 4 person saw team is desired. -
